Don’t Go Back to Smoking

Don’t Go Back to Smoking , quit smoking, cigarette

Giving up smoking is darn hard. You fight nicotine withdrawal, physical and mental habits and more in order to fully walk away from tobacco cigarette smoking in order to enjoy the almost immediate health benefits giving up offers. Whatever method you use in order to move away from smoking works for us as quitting is always a good thing. As hard as giving up smoking is though, it can be done. The rates of adult smokers in the UK are now lower than they have ever been, which is great. What you need to try very hard to remember is don’t go back to smoking.

Many will tell you that giving up smoking is easier when you switch instead to vaping, and it is. This is one of the reasons that Public Health England support vaping as a valid alternative to tobacco cigarettes and are pushing for the government to officially accept e cigarettes as medical devices to be used for cessation purposes. This would then allow GPs and those running Stop Smoking Services to prescribe these to smokers to help them walk away from the habit for good. Giving up is not easy, regardless of what method you use. Staying off the tobacco is so important though if you want to continue to enjoy the benefits of being smoke free. We’ve put together this “Avoid Getting Sucked Back To Smoking” top tips guide to help you identify a few tools that you can use in order to resist the tobacco cigarettes cravings that pop up from time to time.

Identify Your Weak Points

If you don’t want to find yourself lighting up cigarettes again you need to make sure that you identify the times that you are most likely to succumb to smoking temptation. These might be certain times of the day (not avoidable but you can change your routine around these times), certain places, i.e. social times and any other “triggers”.

If you are much more likely to go back to smoking after you have had something alcoholic to drink, for example, it may be worthwhile avoiding excess alcohol or alcohol at all for a while after switching from smoking to vaping or giving up this harmful habit “cold turkey”. Once you identify when you are most likely to find yourself pulled back towards smoking, you can make proactive decisions and plans in order to protect yourself from temptation and avoid undoing all the good work that you’ve done already. Understand yourself and what is most likely to make you succumb and you will be better armed against distractions.

Don’t Go Back to Smoking : Choose Health

Again, if everyone who knew that smoking was bad for them quit straight away there would be very few smokers left around. As it happens, there are still a fair few around! “Cigarettes are bad” does not offer incentive enough however, if you switch to vaping, the alternative that Public Health England hail as being at least 95% less harmful than smoking even with nicotine in e liquids, you will be on track to adopting a healthier lifestyle.

We are not suggesting you instantly sign up to the gym for an everyday session or that you give up all of your favourite foods. That said, if you adopt a healthier outlook on life, eat better, sleep better, increase your exercise slightly then you will reap the benefits of this too. This will likely help you become more motivated in order to say no if smoking cravings rear their ugly head again.

Maximise Your Vaping Enjoyment

If switching to vaping has been your way to move away from tobacco cigarette use then this is a great way to make sure that you don’t go back to smoking. Try different e liquid styles and flavours, maybe opt for high VG is you’re usually more of a 50/50 person, or really push the boat out with flavour choices. Mix up device types and really throw yourself into your new hobby, appreciating full the many benefits of vaping, and you’ll find that smoking becomes less and less attractive to you over time.
